Mississippi Choctaw Vegetable Basket in Vibrant Colors
Handwoven by women of the Mississippi Choctaw Nation, these baskets are lovingly made using weaving techniques passed down through generations. The weavers’ work begins with gathering river or swamp reeds, cutting them into small strips, and dying them in the vibrant colors that give the baskets their unique character. Each shape and design is a reflection of the maker’s personal style, even when using such traditional forms and shapes as the diamond design and the bullnose and vegetable baskets.
