Cooper Hawk Feathers with Tortoise Shell Vessel
Artist Aretha McKinney’s study of feathers is meditative, and she has an uncanny ability to capture the character and nuance of these wonders of the natural world. Aretha says of her work: “I use a layering process of multiple colors in order to achieve the shading and richness of each feather. I like to think of them as a study on God, the original modern artist. Before there was Rothko, there was God.”
